Within Reasons is a four-piece Indian hard rock/alternative metal band from Guwahati, Assam, formed in 2011. The band is composed of singer and songwriter Gautam Ghosh, guitarist Salskwang Jamatia, bassist Shanawaz Rehman, and drummer Moniroop Sarma. The band have always been appreciated for their catchy and groovy music and unique attitude. The band's primary influences include Godsmack, Mudvayne, Alice In Chains, As I Lay Dying, Alterbridge, Paparoach, Deftones, Creed, Payable On Death according to Gautam, Moniroop, and Jamatia. Gautam has cited Sully Erna as his primary influence. The overall sound of the band sounds similar to the sound of Godsmack's Faceless Record. More recently, Within Reasons has attempted to distance themselves from Godsmack. On their more upcoming singles, Within Reasons seems to have taken an influence from As I Lay Dying. The band is considered alternative metal and hard rock. However, they've also been occasionally labelled as nu metal. The band has also been categorized as post-grunge.
